Assessment

Lab 1: Terrain
1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic.
I would rate myself a 3, some knowledge
2.       Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic
I would rate myself about a 4, I believe I know enough to teach someone else
3.       Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn
I 5, strongly agree
What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
Possibly a different way for a group to create a landscape. Maybe
with different elements such as rocks and water. As a more advanced
version.

Lab 2: Terrain revisited
   1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic.
I would rate myself a 4, some knowledge
2.       Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic
I would rate myself about a 4, I believe I know enough to teach someone else
3.       Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn
I 4, strongly agree
What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
I struggled a lot in this lab with my final map because I couldn't get it to interpolate but after receiving Dr. Hupy's assistance we got it to work.

Lab 3: Navigation Maps

1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic.
I would rate myself a 3, some knowledge
2.       Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic
I would rate myself about a 3, I believe I know enough to teach someone else
3.       Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn
I strongly agree, 4
What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
Maybe additional data or more example maps. My only problem with this lab is I think I know what I'm doing but am not for sure if I am really correct and am on the right track.

Lab 4: Microclimate
I got lost several times in lab trying to follow along with the instructions being given on how to setup the geodatabase and how to pair it with the other information in ArcMap like the aerial photo. So my suggestion would be to just go slower and be more obvious with the initial directions, setup and button-clicking.

Lab 6: Microclimate data collection- Smartphone
1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic.
I would rate myself a 2, little knowledge
I know that we were given a pre normalized geodatabase so that we could all be on the same page and that we could spend more time on the smartphone application but I wish we could have created our own. But it wasn't too big of an issue because there were a lot of other problems we were trying to fix and avoid. Overall I really enjoyed this lab and that I got to learn about this cool app! Which worked a lot better than the GPSs

Lab 8: Personal Phone Collector
1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic. ,                                4-A good amount of knowledge,  We've done it a couple                                 times in previous lab and was straightforward and simpler
2.       Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic
4-I know enough to teach someone else
3.       Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn                       5-I Strongly Agree

This was my favorite lab because it was personal. We could take the information we learned and were able to apply it to something we were interested in. I enjoy the ArcCollector application itself and I got to spend a lot of time learning how to personalize my maps and working with ArcMap as well.

Lab 9: Distance Azimuth Survey
  1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic.                             2-Very Little Knowledge
  2.       Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic?                                                                               I would rate myself at a 2.5, I can explain what I did and kind of understood it but would definately need help to repeat it correctly. and understand the technology used.
  3.      Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn  4-Agree                                                                                        I would rate a 4,  If we didn't do this hands on as a class I would be very confused. But being out there and doing it helped                                                                                                                    This lab frustrated me a bit more than the others just because I felt it was confusing and couldn't follow what the instructions even were, everyone seemed confused standing in the rain asking each other what was happening, and just a bunch of numbers were being shouted by multiple people. Then in the computer lab it didn't get much better. Directions were confusing and my computer kept glitching and I had had just about enough. I cou8ldn't stay and finish my maps in lab because of my computer so then I had to find time to go figure it out on my own later without getting a good idea of what the Prof was really looking for or what and how my fellow peers were doing. I think the idea of this lab made sense and was a good idea because it's true technology doesn't also work and you still have to get the job done but the execution was messy.
Lab 9: GPS Feature Point Survey
     1.       Prior to this activity, how would you rank yourself in knowledge about the topic.                3.5-A okay amount of knowledge
    2.       Following this activity, how would you rate the amount of knowledge you have on the topic         4-I know enough to teach someone else
    3.       Did the hands-on approach to this activity add to how much you were able to learn                 4-I Agree that it was helpful

What types of learning strategies would you recommend to make the activity even better?
It would have nice to learn or see how to set up the GPS for this activity, and maybe taking a couple more points and attribute data
